Expatriate Support & Residency

Expatriates are allowed to work and live in Mauritius through an Occupation Permit delivered by the Board of Investment (“BOI”) and the Passport Office.

Depending on the profile of the person, he/she can fall under the investor, professional or self-employed categories. The dependents of the holder of an occupation permit holder may also obtain residence permits through application with the BOI. A foreigner can also live in Mauritius by obtaining a Residence Permit. Retiring in Mauritius or owning an Integrated Resorts Scheme (“IRS”) or Real Estate Scheme (“RES”) gives non-nationals such permits.

Acutus can assist in handling applications for work and residence permits and duty concession facilities for expatriate personnel and applications for permanent residence under the Permanent Residence Scheme, Scheme to Attract Professionals for Emerging Sectors (SAPES) and Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS).

We can also assist on the purchase of villas under the IRS or RES and propose you structures and vehicles for this purpose.
